This summer, we’ll be showing a new tool that supports:
- Hierarchy and object orientation, supporting sectors and complex agents, with no arcane arrays
- Dynamic creation and deletion of model components and relationships
- Team collaboration, model federation and submodels
- Advanced graphics and clean diagrams
- Just like Vensim, a pure declarative language (no programming)
The business case for this is the following sorts of situations:
- A project model, where there’s a network of tasks and their prerequisites. You’d rather not use a task x task matrix to represent the network, because it would be mostly empty. Also, you’d like to use project data at a level similar to its natural granularity.
- A loan portfolio model, where you’d like to calibrate with statistics at the individual loan level. If loans are originated and closed at different times, you’d like to dynamically create and delete them from the model.
- A climate integrated assessment model, where you’d like to delegate the atmospheric and economic sectors to different teams.
- A customer diffusion or infection model with a specific social network configuration, where it’s easier to disaggregate agents than to try to figure out a valid aggregate representation like the Bass model.
- An economic or product lifecycle model, where you’d like to represent cohort or aging effects easily, or have combinations of attributes for each product or sector that don’t easily populate a matrix.
