As optimization progresses, some information will go to the screen and to the error file. How much information will depend on the value you have set for :OUTPUT_LEVEL.
After every optimization, a file named runname.out is created, where runname is the name of the simulation run you are making. (If runname.out exists, then it is copied to runname.2out before a new runname.out is created.)==F_32} This file contains the best payoff so far, the reason the optimizer stopped, and the values of the search parameters needed to achieve that payoff. This file also contains the controls, parameters, and comments you specified in the input optimization control file. The system is set up so that you can simply copy this file over to replace the input file and continue along. It can also be loaded like a changes file to reproduce the results of the optimization. A separate file is created so that you can review it and discard it if you think it does not contain useful information.
In addition to runname.out, a file named runname.log is created which contains the history of message reported during optimization. Normally this file has the same content that appears in the message window during optimization. If, however, the number of messages if very large they go to the file but do not appear in the message window.
If optimization terminated normally or you answered yes in response to the question of whether or not you wanted a simulation, a .vdf file is also created at the current optimum. This file can be loaded into the Workbench and reviewed.
