Vensim Help

The general tab allows access to the following settings. Some settings are not available in all versions of Vensim.

General

Close active model on open/new

This setting if enabled makes Vensim use only one model at a time.

Startup using last model worked on

When you start Vensim, if this is ticked, Vensim will automatically load the last model you worked on.

Suppress simulation information window (excluding errors)/Also suppress errors

During simulation, Vensim displays a window with simulation information. Ticking this will suppress this window. You also have the option to suppress errors as well although this is not recommended.

Show macro variables

By default, Vensim hides any macro variables when using analysis tools. Ticking this will allow them to appear.

Suppress warnings/Show all warnings (don't truncate)

When ticked, Vensim will not show any simulation warnings. If there are lots of warnings, these are usually truncated. You also have the option here to display all warnings.

Measurement units

Simple setting to select either CM or IN.

------------------------------------------------

Equation editor

Here you have two settings, use the legacy editor (and enable/disable "Enter" when editing an equation) or use the latest editor.

------------------------------------------------

Datasets

The datasets settings allow you to configure where datasets are loaded when you simulate (first/last) and to disable the prompt if you are about to overwrite a results file.

------------------------------------------------

Data import

This allows you to configure the "time slop". For more information on this, click here.

Error reporting

Vensim has built in error reporting functionality that executes if any problems are encountered. You can disable this here (not recommended), and also tell the error reporting to retain any reports rather than deleting them.
