Vensim Help

Vensim 9.2 introduces some new functionality.

Improved spell checker

We've improved the spell checker in Vensim. To use, click Model->Spell check.

SVG sketch export

The sketch can now be exported as a SVG graphic. Click on View->Export to SVG to do this.

Kalman filtering now easier to access

Kalman filtering now has a dedicated pane in Simulation Control. Click Simulation->Simulation Control to access it.

Sticky analysis tools

Sticky tools are back. Hold shift when clicking on an analysis toolbar to make it activate automatically when clicking a variable in the sketch. Hold shift and click again to turn off sticky mode.

Units on sketch

You can now display the units on the sketch at all times. Click Model->Settings and navigate to the sketch window to access this setting.

Project explorer tweaks

We've added some extra functionality to the project explorer to copy/delete/rename files.

Default sketch appearance

You can now change the default fonts/colors used for a model which are applied to all views. Click Model->Settings and navigate to the sketch window to access these.

Legacy sized sliders

The Vensim user interface prior to version 9 had smaller SyntheSim sliders with no bounds or units displayed. If you prefer these or have a model that needs lots of updating to take advantage of the new sliders, there is now a setting to simplify them. Click Model->Settings->Simulation to turn them on for a specific model, and you can change the default in Tools->Options on Windows or Preferences on the Mac.

Sketch appearance during SyntheSim/Game

Sketch changes can now be made during SyntheSim/game. Hold down the ALT key and you can move/size sketch objects.

After simulation messages

You can now display a message box when simulation is over. Click Model->Settings and navigate to the simulation window to change this.

Control panel configuration

You can now configure the control panel startup windows. Right click on the control panel icon to access these settings.
