Vensim Help

Vensim's Control Panel is used to control Vensim settings.  It can be opened by using the Windows>Control Panel  command or by clicking on the control panel icon in the main toolbar.  Once it is opened there are 5 tabs to choose from - Variable, Time Axis, Scaling, Datasets and Graphs.

Variable

Use the variable tab to select a variable into the workbench.  The workbench variable is shown at the top of the Vensim window.  The analysis tools along the left work on the workbench variable.  You can use wildcard searches such as *income* to look for all variables containing income.  You can also select variables by type.

Time Axis

The graph and table tools show behavior over time.  You can zoom in on a time range by holding down the shift key and dragging across the graph.  You can also use the Time Axis tab to manage the time range.  Type in start and end times or drag the time indicator bar.

Scaling

Scaling allows some control over how graphs appear.  Use Raw to prevent rounding of the scales.  Adding a zero line is sometimes useful as a reference.

Datasets

The analysis tools on the left work on the loaded runs or datasets.  Use this tab to load, unload, and delete datasets.  To load a dataset click on it in the left then click on the >> button.  To unload click on the dataset in the right and then click on the << button.  You can also reorder the datasets in the right by clicking on the one you want to go first, then shift clicking on the ones you want to follow.

Graphs

If the model you are reading contains custom graphs you can view them by clicking on the graph name and then clicking on Display.  You can display multiple graphs by dragging over the graph names you want and then clicking on the Display button.  If the model does not contains custom graphs the list will be empty.  Use the tools on the left to look at results.
