You can define and modify Subscripts from within the Equation Editor. Usually the Equation Editor is open on Subscripts from the Subscript Control using either the New or Edit buttons. You can also use the New and Choose buttons in the Equation Editor to go to subscript equations.
Once you have the Equation Editor open for a subscript, you can simply type in the subscript equation as in:
v1,v2,v3,v4
Be sure that the variable type is set to Subscript!
The use of mappings and equivalences is governed by subscripting rules. The mapping symbol -> is available on the key pad.
There are no restrictions as to when you can add or modify subscripts, and nothing to prevent you from typing one into an equation before it is defined. But as a general rule, it is probably a good idea to define subscripts ahead of time, so that they are readily available for use in equations.
NOTE Before you define any subscripts, the simpler version of the Equation Editor will be used. Once you define your first subscript you should close the Equation Editor and reopen it to make full use of the subscript features of the Equation Editor. Thereafter, when you open the Equation Editor with the model, the subscript features will appear in the Equation Editor.
