The Startup tab controls the way Vensim Starts.
Startup using last model worked on, if checked, causes Vensim to start with the last model you worked on loaded in the Workbench. If you are working on a number of models, you may wish to uncheck this to save startup time.
Use Vensim in offline mode (not recommended), if checked causes Vensim to separate the workbench model from the model you have loaded in the Text Editor or Sketch Editor. If you select this option you need to explicitly invoke the File>Load command to make a model active. Changes you make to a model will not be reflected in the analysis tools. This option is useful for working with very large models that might make Vensim sluggish but it can be quite confusing because model changes seem to have no effect. This it is not a recommended setting.
Backup file path (no drive) allows you to set a path for the storage of old versions of a file when a new version is written. If this is left blank the old version will be named with a 2 preceding the extension. For example test.vmf would have test.2vmf as its old version name. The path is used by the Text Editor and Sketch Editor to name the backup file.
NOTEDo not include a drive letter when you specify the path - backup will occur on the same logical drive your model is on. If the path as entered does not exist on the current logical drive the default naming convention is used.
Tab Width for Text Editor† allows you to specify the number of spaces a Tab represents in the Text Editor. The Text Editor is designed to work best with fixed pitch fonts.
Compiled simulation path‡ tells Vensim where to find the files necessary to run a compiled simulation. Compiled simulations are available with Vensim DSS.
External function library‡ names the Dynamic Link Library containing external functions for use with Vensim. External functions are available with Vensim DSS..
Molecule Library Path, names the path where molecules are installed. Information on molecules is available from http://www.vensim.com/molecules.html.
NOTESome changes you make in the Startup Settings dialog will not take effect until you exit and restart Vensim.
