Buttons are mainly used for navigation and controlling simulation. The image below shows a number of buttons on the left for navigating to different views, and two more to start and stop SyntheSim.
There are a number of modes in which a button will operate. The most commonly used ones are to navigate to a view and Venapp command. More details on Venapp commands are at venapp.
