5.10a Changes
The number of downloaded files for installing has been decreased. There is now 1 for the program, 1 for sample models and 1 for the help file (this one is actually the biggest). For Vensim DSS the program file includes both the single and double precision builds as well as the DLL so it is larger than for other configurations.
New Subscript Functions (Pro/DSS Only) The functions GET DIRECT SUBSCRIPT, GET ODBC SUBSCRIPT and GET XLS SUBSCRIPT have been added. These allow you to define subscript ranges based on the content of supporting files. More information on these is contained in Functions in the Reference Guide.
ODBC Changes (DSS Only) A new method (called :BIND) has been added for connecting models to databases. This is designed for database tables that contain a number of different variables as fields. For more information see ODBC in the Reference Guide.
Converting a variable to a shadow variables will also change its color if the variable is using the default color.
Bug Fixes
Stacked graphs would show odd pixelation on the right when a shortened time range was selected.
DLL Only: get_varattrib would return type al l for Unchangeable Constants.
Right clicking on a Variable then selecting the Equation button would leave the variable invisible after closing the Equation Editor on some monitors.
Checking a model would sometimes bring up the Equation Editor with the Functions, Subscripts or More tab showing up as empty.
Mac Only: Command + T and Command + U would sometimes also insert U and T into a document.
Mac Only: Graphs embedded in sketches would not always draw when entering one view from another.
Mac Only: The arrow keys were not working in SyntheSim mode to move the selected slider.
Pro/DSS Only: Subscript elements repeated in a subscript definition were not always being detected.
Pro/DSS Only: Equations using both Macros or WITH LOOKUP and :EXCEPT: exclusions were not working.
The GET DIRECT... function (and the GET XLS... functions on the mac) were leaving non .xls files open after reading them.
Engineering fix notes: 5.10x3 (Pro/DSS Only) Recursive subscript definitions would sometimes issue spurious messages about subranges containing elements not in the main range and prevent simulation of the model.. (Mac only) The Mac close button has been deactivated on dialogs. 5.10x2 fixes: 1) a timeout problem that could cause simulation results not to be saved to a file in SyntheSim mode. 2) (Mac only) problems associated with closing dialog boxes using the Mac built in close button in the upper left hand corner.
