Vensim Help

The Text Editor has two text selection modes.  The first follows the standard Windows conventions for selection of text.  Using the mouse you can drag over a portion of text to select it.  Alternatively you can hold down the Shift key and move the cursor with the Arrow, Page Up, Page Down, Home and End keys.  The text you have selected will be highlighted from the point you began at, to the point you stopped at — typically in the middle of a line.  If you cut or copy this text and place it, it might be placed in the middle of a line.

If you use the select by line key (Numeric Keypad *) then text is highlighted line by line.  If you cut and paste this it will always paste it at the beginning of the line, regardless of where you have positioned the cursor.  This is intended to make it easier to move equations around.

If, while you have highlighted text, you press any key other then a movement key, the text will be removed and replaced with the key you pressed.   This makes it easy to replace small sections of Text.  If you make such a replacement by accident, the Undo function will allow you to recover.
