Vensim tests a model for errors automatically whenever you try to use an Analysis tool or simulate the model. You can also ask Vensim to test for errors by using the Model>Check Model command or holding down the Control key and pressing the T key. If you have the Equation Editor open, you can also check the model by clicking on the Check Model button.
If you do not explicitly ask to check a model, Vensim will only report errors that prevent it from completing the current task. To see all messages you must explicitly ask to check the model.
The way in which you navigate error messages depends on the mode in which you are working on the model. Before going into detail on the types of messages, an overview of this is helpful.
NOTE Vensim has a function to perform partial simulation of a model. This will allow you to simulate a model that still contains errors in some parts. See Simulating Models for more details.
