5.10c Changes
GET DIRECT... functions and the GET XLS... functions on the Macintosh (or if direct connect is selected) can now use Named Ranges.
GET XLS... functions can now access columns beyond 256 (up to 16384) for xlsx files (Windows only, OLE connections only).
When a GET XLS function using OLE connection encounters a file that is open, but in a different directory, you will now be offered the option to use that file (excel will not allow you to open two files with the same name). This may also happen with some network devices that use nonstandard naming conventions.
Mac DSS Only: Compiled simulations and external functions are now available. A double precision version of DSS is also available (VensimDSSDP).
When exporting datasets to tab delimited format you can now add extra columns (or rows if time is running down) with information such as the run name.
Failed connections to spreadsheets via OLE (the default and preferred connection method) will now simply return an error and not attempt to fall back to a DDE connection. This makes error messages much easier to understand. You can still tell Vensim to connect using DDE from the Tools>Options>Settings (or Options>Options) dialog.
Opening of large models should go more quickly on the Macintosh.
Mac Only: Graphics can be saved directly to pdf files, so that copying to the clipboard and saving from Preview is no longer necessary.
Bug Fixes
Mac Only: The tick mark for special time on the Time Axis tab of the control panel would not always draw and would sometimes stay visible even after the control panel was closed.
Arrow connections to words near the edge of the sketch would sometimes fail, especially if the sketch was scrolled.
Setting both dialog fonts and compressed dialog fonts to a large font size could cause an infinite sequence of screen too small notices to appear.
Mac Only: Adding entries in the Lookup Editor by typing them would draw the new line segments without erasing the old leaving extra lines of the display graph.
Mac Only: The Variable list in the control panel would cut off the left corner of names and not highlight exactly correctly.
Pro/DSS Only: Models using :EXCEPT: could cause spurious insufficient memory errors and fail to simulate after being edited.
DSS Only: Quoted commands in Venapps were not being properly parsed (this effects mostly the TEST command).
When simulating (including in SyntheSim) with only 1 run loaded the time range, including Special time, was resetting itself after each simulation rather than retaining the old settings.
New variables would sometimes be assigned a group arbitrarily.
GET XLS CONSTANTS was not issuing an error when it attempted to read an empty or non numeric cell but instead assigning :NA: as the value.
Arrows with the hide exact attribute specified would prevent selection or sketch editing when visible.
Pro/DSS Only: Opening models with macro definitions containing outputs could sometimes cause Vensim to close unexpectedly.
Mac Only: Vensim could fail to start when the user's home directory was not accessible or had permission problems.
Mac Only, Pro/DSS Only: Changing the position in the Text Editor by clicking on the Scroll Bar could cause Vensim to close.
Mac Only: Scrolling on the Text output windows was passing more than one screen at a time. The keyboard page up and down were not working in those or in the Table tool.
Mac Only, Pro/DSS Only: Subscript tabs were not updating the number of selected items when changing subscript selections.
Changing the loaded runs or subscript selected when onscreen behavior was set to show (but not in SyntehSim mode) would not refresh the graph lines on variables.
Pro/DSS Only: Renaming a subscript in the equation editor could leave some uses in the current equations unchanged.
Pro/DSS Only: The color of the font set for custom tables was not being used.
