Vensim Help

To add controls to a screen click on a subtool corresponding to the control you want to add then click on a blank portion of the screen.  When you do this the Control Definition dialog opens and you can enter information about the control.  This dialog also allows you to change the type of control so that if the control you want to add is not in the tool list you can easily change to that control.  The tools list contains the common controls:

TEXTONLY - add text to the screen.

RECTANGLE - add a framing rectangle to the screen.

SHOWVAR - show the value of a variable.

TOOL - put up tool output or custom graph output  including Graphs, Strip Graphs, Tables and Trees.

BUTTON - place a button on the screen.

MODVAR -allow the Venapp user to  change the value of a variable by typing in a new value.

SLIDEVAR - allow the Venapp user to change the value of a variable by dragging a slider.

RADIOVAR - allow the Venapp user to set a variable by choosing among radio button selections.

SWITCHVAR - allow the Venapp user to set a switch variable value.

LISTVAR - allow the Venapp user to select a variable value from a dropdown list.

Since it is possible to change the type of a control it is also possible to change it to a non visible control such as command.  If you do this you will no longer be able to see the control, but it will still be in the screen.  Use the Screen Definition dialog to manage such hidden controls.

If you want to edit an existing control click on it with any of the control subtools selected.  If you have the Lock or Move/Size tool selected you can modify an existing control by clicking on it with the right mouse button.
