The simulations made in SyntheSim mode are continually saved to your computer. This means that you can make full use of all the analysis tools to look at the runs you have made without having to leave SyntheSim mode. It also means that there is not a separate stored run for each experiment that you do. There are three approaches to managing the runs that you make.
Saving Interesting Runs
Use a Runname such as experiment for the SyntheSim run. As you move sliders and adjust lookups you will come to something interesting. At this point use the Save this run to button and store the results with a meaningful name. Do not change the Runname – it continues to represent experiments with the results stored from time to time.
This method has the advantage of letting you archive things whenever you find something interesting. The runs can be kept for later analysis and comparison.
Branching Experiments
Start with a Runname such as result01. When you are happy with that change the name to result02 and continue to experiment. When you find something interesting change the name to result03 and so on. Once you change the name the old run will be stored as it was, moving down in the list of loaded runs.
This method has the advantage of being very simple and fast, though the Runnames that are saved are not very meaningful.
Saving Cin Files (Not PLE or PLE Plus)
Similar to saving interesting runs it is possible to just save the changes associated with a run. This is done using the Save Constant/Lookup… button . The changes file that is created can be used to load changes for later simulations.
This method does not create additional runs, but only changes files. The changes files are nice because they can be applied to the model even after changes are made to it.
